about
the staff...
Bill
Palmer - Owner, Founder, CEO, Webmaster, Editor, and
Janitor
email: billpalmer@billpalmer.net
AIM / iChat: billpalmerdotnet
Bill founded
billpalmer.net primarily to remind Macintosh users that they
really have never had it so good. He lives
in Kissimmee, Florida and is currently splitting
his time between running billpalmer.net and Bill
Palmer Consulting. Bill spent five years as the
Technology Specialist at a 100%-Mac Elementary School,
where he migrated the entire faculty and staff to
MacOS X, coordinated
a teacher-based Mac User Group, offered weekly hands-on
tech sessions to staff, and spent two hours per day
teaching third
through fifth grade students how to
use iLife and Keynote.
Bill specializes in assisting Mac users in their migration to MacOS X, helping
users to get the most out of iTunes/iPhoto/iMovie,
building wireless networks from scratch, and has successfully
helped several long-time PC users switch to the Mac. Bill
is currently considering applying for an internship position
at his own site, just for irony's sake...but fears he'd get
rejected.
Bill
gets a kick out of the fact that, by virtue of living
just behind
the road that
houses nearly all of the Disney-related hotels
and hoopla, he lives "between the building shaped
like a giant orange and the building
with the giant purple wizard on the roof".
Now, how many fellow Mac users out there can
say that? Alright, two, maybe three. But we doubt
they're sober.
about
the interns...
(listed in order of first published article)
Will graduated
from Mechatronic Engineering in 2002. He is now undertaking a
PhD at the University of Adelaide, Australia.
His research project is based around building a table that floats
on magnets, and it's harder than he first expected. He'll be stuck
there for several more years, but beyond that, who knows?
Born
January 4th, 1983 in Miami, to a group of militant gypsies.
Lived in
a dreary black and white and occasionally sepia Wintel
world until 2001, when he first laid eyes on the tangerine
iMac while
attending The Future Proctologists of America Summer
Camp. Since then, he's become a proud father to 4 new Macs,
a stepbrother
to his sister's iMac, and can ride his bicycle really,
really fast.
Michael
was born and raised around the Houston area, and continues
to live close to his family (he's afraid
of the dark, so he has to have someone to cry to). His wife Chrissy
and son Gabriel, continue to be sources of inspiration (and frustration). He
graduated with an English degree from Sam Houston State University
and hopes someday to figure out just what the hell he can do
with it. Until then, he's playing at being adult, and hopes the
games will last forever.
Currently
a student in Southern CA studying philosophy as well as a
full-time network administrator. A Mac user since 1986, a
Novell
Master CNE, 12 years experience in IT.
Steve currently lives in Indianapolis, IN
with his wife, April. He will graduate from Purdue University
in May 2003 with a degree in Computer Information Technology.
After that they are taking a trip to Arizona where they plan
on moving later in the year. Steve has been a Mac-geek since
April 2003 when he bought his iBook. Ever since, he has been
a huge supporter of Apple technology. Steve talks down Microsoft
every chance he gets and has even stated that he never again
wants to deal with the Windows world, aka the Dark Side.
Seth
is a thirty-something high school English teacher in Overland
Park, Kansas. He lives in a nice house with his wife, three
kids
and 11 Macs and spends his free time researching new ways
to do mildly useful things with old computers. He's got
a 12" PowerBook,
a G4 Tower, a Bondi iMac, a PowerCenter 120, a PowerMac
8600, a PowerMac 7100, a PowerBook 165, a PowerBook 165c,
a Performa
450, a Mac SE and a Newton MessagePad. Between them, they
run OS 6.1 through Panther, with the Newton OS and Yellow
Dog Linux thrown in for kicks.
When
not grading papers, Seth evangelizes for the Mac OS, loves
his children and plays poker. Some people think Seth is
a Geek.
And they're
right.
Brian is a former
US Marine and is now a Graphic/Web Designer and Macintosh
Consultant in the Orlando area. He has been
using Macintosh computers for over 10 years now, his first
Mac being a Mac IIsi. These days, he’s using his iBook
to run his own consulting and design business. Brian got
his design certification through an online distance learning
program through Sessions.edu. After being in business for
himself for over half a year now, he’s concluded that
it’s a lot better than working for someone else. He
is happily married with no children. If you want to find
out more about Brian’s business, check out his website
at www.briansakowiczdesign.com.

Bill
runs Bill Palmer Consulting out of Central
Florida, and will gladly provide on-site technical support
or training to any
Mac user in the area. Hourly rates are more reasonable than
one
might
expect. For information about Bill Palmer Consulting, visit

Bill doesn't have the answer to every issue, but is willing
to bet that he knows someone who does.

though -- Mac Tech Support, community threads, and a special
area for Mac-using educators are all part of the bargain. The
boards are hosted at ezboard and can be accessed by clicking
here.

about
other people named "Bill Palmer"...
Just
for the record, the Bill Palmer behind
this site is not the
founder of Applebee's restaurant. He's
also not the father of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback
Carson Palmer or of New York Giants quarterback Jesse
Palmer (yes, they both have fathers named "Bill", and yes, we
think it's strange too). He's also not this
guy.
