See what happens: where I'll be during the Keynote
So here we are just an hour before the Keynote begins, and what's perhaps surprising me the most is the fact that so many sites are referring to this as the "most anticipated MacWorld Keynote in history." I'm really not sure how they've come up with that one.
At a time when every one of Apple's major product lines is kicking tail, and the best news of the day would be if the most-cicrulated rumor turns out to be a hoax, I'm really not sure where all the hype comes from this time around. Maybe it's because so many geeks are so convinced that they're finally going to get the idiot-box they've been drooling over for the past six years. What's funny is that even if it were to happen, they'd still find a way to be massively disappointed with the very product they've been begging for. Beyond that, there might be a baby iPod that plays songs at random, and the astounding amount of excitement generated by an impending new word processor. Please.
I can't recall having been less excited by the pre-Expo rumors in quite awhile. Maybe it's because the biggest one is a hoax and the others are fringe stuff at best. But then, maybe that's exactly what Apple wanted. I have no idea what's coming today, and neither do you. The thing is, though, that I'm still just as excited as ever, because I have a feeling that we'll see some really ground-breaking stuff today that'll have no connection to the rumors whatsoever. And I guess that'll be my last thought on the matter before we begin finding out for real in just an hour or so.
I'll invite you to join us over on MacMischief, where we'll be posting the announcements as soon as we can get ahold of them, and you'll be able to discuss them as much as you like in our comments section. Although MacMischief is technically still in beta, that won't stop us from diving headlong into today's Expo and seeing if we can't provide the most worthwhile coverage out there. So I'll see you over there.
